Germany
Drove through
Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary. Thanks to European roads and no speed limits, we drove 1600 km (1000 miles) in those 24 hours; and threw
in a side visit to Slovakia for good measure.
Most of the driving through
Germany was overnight and in the early morning hours. So, we were able to avoid all the traffic jams in and around the
large and busy German cities on our route. This was mostly thanks to the advice of our mechanic friend in Rotterdam.
He is from Bulgaria and travels most of our route frequently. Saved ourselves almost a full day to otherwise-slow traffic.
We have to rush across all
these countries to meet our ship’s departure date of July 10th in Baku, Azerbaijan.
