Around the World in 66 Days - Europe to China by Car

Our Focus

• Humanitarian Aid and outreach awareness, focused on children and their development, during the middle portion (Central Asia) of our journey. (see “Humanitarian Aspect” tab of our website www.gotochina08.com or Tab 6 of the printed document for more information.  We have experience working with an orphanage).     Focus on Tajiks and Tajikistan.

1. Record family stays at local villages.
2. Record traditions and ceremonies.
3. Visit various bazaars along the way.  Perform and record actual sample trades along the silk route (school project).   We begin with small samples taken from U.S.   Our 12-year old daughter (who speaks some of the languages spoken enroute) will actually engage in trade in the same tradition of our ancestors who also traded along the same route.
4. Document interesting local customs and traditions.

1. Document the visits to historical sites.   There are many ancient, rarely visited sites going back to pre-historic times.

• Music and Performing Arts
1. Attend and record traditional performances.
2. Arrange to record individual and group musicians in villages.

• Sports
1. Local favorites
2. Horses
3. Fishing expeditions along the way
4. Hiking
5. Snow sports? (yes! In the middle of summer we will pass by the World’s largest glacier (outside the N. and S. pole area).  Surrounded by desert-like areas! Incredible.

• Travel adventure:
1. We are planning a very special flight on a large Russian biplane (Antonov2 ) from Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) to Kashghar (Kashi,

China) over Tian Shan and Pamir mountains (North of Himalayas).  Almost touching the world’s largest glacier (beside N and S Poles!) near our flight path.  Look for videos and pictures!
